Rangoli 2020

Diwali a festival of light and colours is celebrated all over the globe . For some its about making various dishes ,for some meeting friends .not to forget the little once who love to dress up in new clothes and enjoy lighting crackers.

For me it is time to be with colours which involves making a rangoli , painting diyas , decorating the house with flowers of marigold . This Diwali having mixed feeling of celebration had a tough time to decide the theme for this festival. Every year I generally plan and order the colours from Bhusaval - my relatives take pleasure in buying colours in this season and send them to me. This year it wasn’t possible so when I opened my rangoli drawer I found most of them were not adequate enough, I sat with all the colour thinking of a design to work . It was the other way round this year and this was quite challenging - I had to do something with the stuff I had .

The final creative work turned out to be pleasant and was delighted - I could create a picture that needs no words .

About this rangoli

The design was picked up from an embroidery done on my old dress [ Karnataki kashida ] which was a chariot. As I began working on drawing I felt the place was too small so had to avoid doing the fine detailing. The idea of using 9 boxes with different colours was creeping in my mind and that reflects the emotion we are sailing through. Yet something was missing and what was it?. The no 9 was compelling the right hemisphere of my brain towards holistic creativity . This Diwali and no moon day came on Saturday the concept of NAVGRAHA clicked me and thus gave a beautiful meaning to my rangoli.

Let this lamp, planets and colours bring light , positivity ,prosperity and happiness in your life.

HAPPY DIWALI to all
